Taurus New Moon 05/16/26
The Breath Between Worlds
“In Silence there is eloquence.
Stop weaving and see how the pattern improves.”
― Rumi
Inhale. Exhale.
The last six weeks have been intense. The mud has been stirred. Things are unsettled. Foundations uprooted.
We’ve been asked (forced?) to look deeply. At patterns. At shadow material. At the places where something no longer holds, both within us and around us. Reality has a way of getting our attention, after all. Often, it is the only thing that can.
So, it’s likely you’ve had to traverse something hard. A loss. A shift. A change you didn’t choose. Maybe you’ve been wondering why things aren’t working the way you thought they would. Why life suddenly feels uncertain. Or fragile. Maybe you’ve felt more easily triggered. More reactive. More anxious. Or maybe you’ve just been feeling all of it- the heaviness in the air, like emotional pollen causing a kind of empathic hay fever.
It’s a lot to navigate.
There is grace in shadow layers arising. When our dragons arise, it offers the opportunity to befriend and tame them. To reclaim what has been lost. To empower what has been hidden. To course correct.
The challenging part is shadow dragons are especially feisty, and transformation is rarely easy. Especially when the transformation is unexpected or unwanted. Beginnings we didn’t ask for. Endings we haven’t planned for.
Inhale.
Exhale.
The astrology certainly reflects this intensity. We are in a season of depth, complexity, and necessary confrontation. And times like these are evolutionary. They move things. They require work. They ask something of us.
And, thus, they are also exhausting.
Because growth, real growth, requires a certain rhythm. It requires the digging. But it also requires rest. Life requires the inhale before the exhale.
And this New Moon offers exactly that.
Astrology understands this ongoing dance between complexity and simplicity, between doing and being, and between intensity and calm. The former belongs to Scorpio. The latter, to Taurus.
Paraphrasing Steven Forrest:
“If you had a growth opportunity on Wednesday, maybe you don’t need another on Thursday. Maybe you just need a day at the beach.”
Friends, maybe we all need a day at the beach.
Because the pressure is still building. With Uranus now in Gemini through 2033, the pace of change is accelerating. Uranus brings freedom and innovation, but it does so through disruption. Through shocks. Through the unexpected. And while that is not inherently good or bad, it is destabilizing.
Because Uranus lives in the realm of the unpredictable and uncertain. Like lightning, Uranian change is often sudden through circumstance or through realization. And like electricity, it becomes dangerous when it is ungrounded.
Which brings us to Taurus. Because proper grounding is essential.
As we move through the uncertainty of Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius, the potential is immense. Radical change is possible and inevitable. Left wild and ungrounded, though that energy can become riotous and unfocused. Dangerous even.
Taurus reminds us of the requirement for healthy foundations. Foundations that are stable, grounded, and strong. The most earthy of signs, Taurus reminds us, it is the roots of the tree that determine how well it withstands the quake.
So, take this New Moon as a reminder to tend to your roots. To pause. To get still.
What if we valued recovery as much as effort?
Silence as much as noise?
Integration as much as transformation?
Presence as much as purpose?
This is the wisdom of Taurus.
There is intelligence in the simple. In the everyday. In the act of being here, now.
Yes, maybe you need tangible things— sleep, nourishment, water, rest. Maybe you need to step away from the noise. Turn down the input. Let your system recalibrate, even repair.
Because the pause is not only about replenishing energy. It is also about integration. Making sense of what just happened. And asking, simply and honestly:
What actually matters now?
And what doesn’t?
So under this New Moon, let yourself pause. Go to the ocean. Or the mountains. Or simply step outside and notice something real. Take a few full, intentional breaths.
Because the silence is not empty at all. And if you listen closely, it will tell you what comes next.
