Uncertain Uncertainty

We humans are a complicated bunch. Separate but equal. Connected but disconnected. One planet yet defined by borders. We live on a world swirling through a chaotic solar system, yet somehow held in remarkable balance.
Pisces understands this paradox.
It speaks to the contradictions that live both inside us and around us. It dissolves neat categories and invites us into questions that resist easy answers.
What does this all mean? Why am I here? What is even real?
Pisces revels in both the mystical and the tangible, opposing forces always seeking balance. Its purpose is not truly to confuse us, though that can certainly happen. Pisces invites something more profound: the ability to wonder. It loosens our grip on certainty so curiosity can take its place.
It takes us to the edge of what we think we know and quietly asks: What if there is more?
There is something both awe-inspiring and unsettling in that invitation. There’s the Pisces paradox again.
Despite our complexity, humans often prefer the simplicity of sameness. That instinct is understandable and it runs deeper than mere comfort-seeking. Psychologists have long observed that our shared beliefs, cultural narratives, and worldviews don’t just organize society. They serve as a kind of existential insulation. They help us manage the weight of being conscious, mortal, and uncertain in a vast and indifferent universe.
When those structures hold, we feel grounded. When they begin to crack, when the stories we’ve relied on to make meaning start to thin, something older and rawer surfaces underneath. Not just discomfort. Dread.
That is what so many of us are feeling right now.
Clarity is comforting. Stability is necessary. Shared understanding helps societies function. But when sameness becomes the expectation, when certainty becomes the goal, we can begin to resist the very forces that allow growth, discovery, and imagination. We grip our meaning structures tighter precisely when the uncertainty feels most threatening. And gripping to the old is the opposite of change.
Uncertainty is the playground of the water signs, and Pisces in particular. But uncertainty itself comes in different forms. Sometimes it can be resolved through information or investigation. Sometimes it can be clarified through conversation and debate.
But Pisces points to a deeper kind.
This is the uncertainty that lives beyond the reach of logic. It lives in the existential and ontological questions that sit at the edge of human understanding. These are the questions humanity has wrestled with for centuries across philosophy, science, and spirituality. They are not problems to solve as much as mysteries to live inside.
That is Piscean work.
Endings and Beginnings
With so many planets gathered at the threshold between Pisces and Aries, this lunation highlights a powerful transition: the dissolution that must occur before something new can begin.
Honor what is ending. Because endings are part of this cycle. Honor the revelations, the disillusionments, even the grief that sometimes accompanies this kind of clarity. Much is being uncovered, and that uncovering can be brutal in its realness. When the stories that once held our world together begin to dissolve — personally, collectively, culturally — what’s exposed isn’t just inconvenient truth. It’s the existential ground beneath the ground. And standing on it, unmediated, can feel terrifying.
That terror is not a sign that something is wrong with you. It is a sign that you are paying attention.
At the same time, make space for what is being born. We are at the end of eclipse season, and thus newness wants to emerge. But newness rarely arrives fully formed. It first appears in pieces, shifts in direction, and possibilities that ask for room to take root. With Saturn and Neptune conjunct this New Moon, none of this is subtle. What isn’t in alignment is on full display. The veil is lifted.
Light Emerging
The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon offers a striking image that echoes these themes: Light breaking into many colors as it passes through a prism. The light itself is whole. Constant. Present whether we see it clearly or not.
But when light passes through a prism, something remarkable happens. What once appeared singular suddenly reveals a spectrum of color.
In many ways, human perception works the same way. Reality may contain a deeper coherence, yet our experiences, beliefs, identities, and fears shape how that light refracts through us. Each of us sees a different part of the spectrum. Each of us has been working with a particular set of lenses, formed by our histories, our cultures, our deepest needs for safety and meaning.
Sometimes those lenses distort what we see. Old stories, assumptions, and emotional residue can cloud our perception. And sometimes they reveal beauty we might otherwise miss.
Be aware of both. At this time of chaotic restructuring, we best make sure we are perceiving clearly.
Because Pisces invites us to release the lenses that no longer serve us — the illusions, distortions, narratives, and expectations that cloud our vision. Aries then asks what we will do once the fog lifts. In this way, clear perception and right action are intrinsically intertwined.
No doubt we are feeling the consequences of the time. The heaviness. The confusion. The anger. Maybe even the dread. When the structures that once buffered us from life’s deepest questions begin to dissolve, the questions themselves move closer. They become harder to avoid.
Pisces does not apologize for this. It simply reminds us that the light is always present. And when it passes through the prism of our lives, it can become something unexpected. A spectrum of possibilities.
Like a rainbow appearing after a storm, it reminds us that hope often lives in the space of not yet knowing — an assurance that the light was there all along, simply waiting to break through.
